Transforming an Old Office Building into a Modern Workspace

Transforming dated spaces is kind of our thing. We’re beyond thrilled to give you an exclusive peek into Shannon Speck’s Electric’s stunning new office. Here’s a little backstory. Our client is also our go-to electrician, and earlier this spring, he let us know that he had this building under contract. We all put our heads together, and came up with a plan that was implemented in record time. It’s been a wild ride, but what an incredible opportunity!

While we’re best known for our residential magic, we’re over the moon to add another commercial project to our portfolio. Huge shoutout to Shannon Speck’s Electric – we’re so grateful to have collaborated with them on this.

Every remodel starts with a crystal-clear vision. The Specks dreamed of an office that exemplifies their brand and provides a workspace that’s both comfy and efficient for their team. We rolled up our sleeves, dug deep into their needs, preferences, and big-picture goals, and got to work making that vision a reality.

The Speck crew wanted to carve out one office as a playroom for their adorable grandbabies, so we got to unleash our inner kids and have a blast with this commercial space. Think mural-covered walls, bright pops of color, and playful textures galore.

The result? A Shannon Speck Electric office that’s a shining testament to the power of collaborative design and top-notch craftsmanship.

This building’s got history. It started life as a bank, then became a rental office with (wait for it) green carpet, clicky linoleum flooring, and enough faux plastic plants to fill a jungle. Needless to say, it was time to bring it into the 21st century!

The previous tenants left behind a treasure trove of old furnishings. We spotted potential in these vintage chairs and fell head over heels. A little TLC and some sleek Magnolia Fabrics upholstery later, they’re the stars of the customer lounge.

We didn’t stop there. Picture a pass-through window to the front office, all-new finishes, and one-of-a-kind accessories courtesy of our friends at Jewell & Jane Co. That antique duck and pair of hunting photos? The perfect reflection of our clients’ unique personalities.

Speck Electric needed a floor plan that would maximize the space. We created a kitchen perfect for lunchtime gatherings and customer events. The original layout? A glass partition running down the center of the room (um, what?) and a teeny-tiny break room/kitchen tucked away in the back corner, complete with a retro 70’s all-in-one cooktop, sink, and fridge (a first for us in nearly 30 years in the business!).

Our conference room design leaves no detail unconsidered. Instead of the typical long table and whiteboard, we’ve created a welcoming space that encourages collaboration. A live-edge wood tabletop adds natural beauty, complemented by comfortable navy blue leather chairs. A console table and lamps provide both functionality and ambiance, with the option for softer lighting. Our simple, neutral color scheme strikes the perfect balance between classic and modern, appealing to a variety of styles.

Last but not least, our restrooms elevate the standard public restroom experience. Neutral tones paired with quartz-topped vanities achieve a perfect blend of understated luxury. Gold-framed mirrors, hardware, and Hudson Valley Lighting’s gold and acrylic sconces add a touch of sophistication, completing the space.

The Shannon Speck Electric remodel is proof that when you combine a clear vision, killer collaboration, and a passion for excellence, magic happens. We can’t get enough of the finished product and are are looking forward to our next commercial challenge!
